I sure have! That’s why I built this app initially for myself.

A huge shoutout to the creators @palettab.com for their browser extension, showcasing beautiful color sets and fonts on every new tab, inspiring me along the way – multiple times a day.

Add Custom Colors

The app supports various color formats including HEX, RGB, HSL and CMKY. You can copy paste your color values like: #40E0D0, 40E0D0, rgb(64, 224, 208), rgba(64, 224, 208, 1), hsl(174, 72, 56), hsla(174, 72, 56, 1) and cmyk(72, 0, 7, 12). If you know the name of the color, you can also type it in.

Your local Color Sets

are stored only in *this* Browser. You can save a maximum of 200* color sets, older ones are deleted automatically. If you published a set globally you can find it here. (*never tested)

Share your color sets via Link URL

Each color combination you create generates a unique URL (link). For example, anycolor.pro / #AAAAAA;#BBBBBB;#CCCCCC shows the Screen Color #AAAAAA as the first code, with additional codes like #BBBBBB and #CCCCCC representing Card Colors. Copy the link to save your set, share it or come back to it later.

Web colors have names

Did you know that some web colors have their own unique names? You can find a list @Htmlcolorcodes.com. My favorite colors are Coral, Lightcoral, Salmon and Tomato. Look

Shades of Dead

Navajo White, represented by the HEX code #FFDEAD, radiates warmth and optimism @Colorkit.co. There are many other dead #HEX colors like #AADEAD, #0DEAD0 & #DEADAF. 🙂

Difference between RGB and CMYK

Screens glow by themselves, but printed paper reflects the light that falls on it. So you have to handle the colors differently in printing than in screen design.

RGB values (Red, Green, Blue) range from 0 to 255 for each color. For example, RGB (0, 0, 0) is black (no light), and RGB (255, 255, 255) is white (full light), while RGB (255, 0, 0) represents red. Colors are created by mixing light.

CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) values range from 0% to 100%, where 0% means no ink and 100% means full ink coverage. For example, CMYK (0%, 0%, 0%, 100%) is pure black, as it uses only black ink. Colors are mixed here like in a paint bucket.

How Does the #HEX Color Code Work?

The #HEX code is a way of representing colors in digital design using a six-character combination of numbers and letters. The first two characters represent the red component, the next two represent green, and the last two represent blue. Each pair of characters ranges from 00 to FF in HEX adecimal (base 16), which corresponds to a value between 0 and 255 in decimal. For example, #FF0000 represents pure red, with no green or blue.

What do the numbers 0-9 and A-F represent? 1 is a very low intensity, A (or 10 in decimal) is a medium-high intensity, E is almost full intensity, just one step below F. Just change the sliders here and watch the RGB and HEX values, you'll understand in no time.

What is White Balance?

White balance is how our eyes adjust to light, so we see certain things as white. A camera or program cannot know how a human interprets, so colors may not be displayed in the same way.

The white balance is when we point to a specific spot in the image and tell the camera that this is "white" for us, and the app or camera corrects it accordingly.

Color Harmonies

In color theory, color harmony refers to the property that certain aesthetically pleasing color combinations have. These combinations create pleasing contrasts and consonances that are said to be harmonious. These combinations can be of complementary colors, split-complementary colors, color triads, or analogous colors. Read more @Wikipedia.

Monochromatic Schemes

A monochromatic color scheme uses variations of a single hue. By adjusting the saturation and lightness, designers can create depth and harmony without using multiple colors.

Color Psychology

Different colors can evoke various emotions. Understanding color psychology can help with design decisions, especially in branding and web design. Red is largely associated with passion, love and anger. Blue means calm, peace and trust. Green stands for nature, growth and harmony. Yellow is a sign of joy, happiness and energy. How Many Colors Are There, Actually?

In digital design, there are over 16 million possible colors, thanks to the combination of 256 values for red, green, and blue in the RGB color model. The crazy part is, the human eye can actually distinguish most of them, making the world of color even more fascinating!

Hypocritical Color Accuracy

We often chase the perfect color accuracy, but the reality is, what we see on a screen or in print is never truly the same as what the human eye perceives. Lighting, screen calibration, and even the medium itself all affect how we experience color, making the idea of "perfect" color a bit of a myth. If you want to be sure the color looks exactly how you envisioned it, the answer is: Test on different Screens!

What is a Proof in Printing? A proof in printing is a test print used to preview colors, layout, and design before the final print run. It ensures that the colors and details match expectations, helping to catch any issues like color discrepancies or layout errors before going to press.

Pantone: Ensuring Color Accuracy

Pantone colors are used when you need to ensure that the color you envision is exactly replicated in print. By using Pantone's standardized color matching system, you can achieve consistency across different materials and printers. Learn more about Pantone at @Pantone.com.

Colors in Film and Photography

When veins appear in photos, red and blue tones are adjusted to reduce visibility. Lighting is typically set beforehand to prevent these issues.

Why Sunlight Beats LED Light

Sunlight delivers a complete spectrum of wavelengths, which LEDs can't fully replicate. This natural mix gives colors true depth and vibrancy, unlike the sometimes narrow and artificial feel of LEDs. Plus, sunlight flows continuously, without the subtle flicker LEDs can produce — a result of pulsing that can strain your eyes over time. Sunlight is simply smoother, more balanced, and aligned with our natural rhythm, making it the superior light source.

Pure White Should Be Avoided

Using pure white (#FFFFFF) in design can lead to challenges, as it leaves no room for contrast adjustments. By opting for slightly off-white shades, designers retain the flexibility to make pure white accents stand out when needed, enhancing visual depth and hierarchy without sacrificing readability. For example, I always start with the color #EFEFEF which is about 6% black.

Material Design Color System

The Material Design Color System by Google is a helpful guide for understanding how to apply color and contrast effectively. It explains how each UI element is assigned a color role, which can be either static or dynamically generated from sources like wallpapers. This approach creates accessible color palettes that automatically adapt to both light and dark themes.

Artificial Shadow

Even an artificial shadow is always black. Be careful not to make the shadow too strong — a subtle effect is usually best. Shadows with 10% to 40% alpha are typically sufficient.

Colorful shadows are essentially ray-tracing reflections, created when the back of an object reflects its color onto a surface, like a wall.

Blue LED: The Light That Saved Us All.

In 2014, three brilliant scientists — Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano, and Shuji Nakamura — won the Nobel Prize for inventing the blue LED. Without them, we’d still be stuck with dim, flickery lights and old-school screens.

Negative afterimage

If you stare at one color, such as red, for a long time, you often see the complementary color, such as green, after you stop looking. Your eyes tire and produce an “afterimage” for a short time, as the receptors need to recover.
